Dotted along the Mississippi River are historic plantation homes, each one sharing a unique story about its history. These were built as sugarcane farms originally and were flourishing businesses until wars, floods and The Great Depression caused many of them to fall into disrepair. Today, these four plantations have been restored and are open to the public and serve as a means to tell the story of agriculture, slavery, greed, wealth, the culture and the history of not only these four properties but of South Louisiana.
